Sim City 4- Evolution of City

March 9, 2010 - 2:47 pm 25 Comments

This is a video that demonstrates the evolution of a city from start to finish. From just a shell of empty zones, public buildings and utilities, the city develops into a bustling metropolis of tall skyscrapers and complex high tech industry. Sit back and watch this happen.

The city had everything it required at the very start. I didn’t add or alter things during the video. The city was left to develop by itself.

Like all my videos, no cheats or money boxes were used to make this video. I used NAM to help with the transportation within this city.

commercial – Super Sugar Crisp – air pollution

February 28, 2010 - 5:45 pm 22 Comments

Commercial for Super Sugar Crisp with everyone’s favorite player & his gf at the time, “Honey Bear”. Food for hungry DJ’s?

This is from a series seen in 1970 with pollution themes.

Super Sugar Crisp is now known as Super Golden Crisp and there are no such themes in the commercials, as that fad (pollution prevention) is considered passe’. There are no current cereal commercials with themes like “preemptive strike”, “wasting oil in my SUV”, and “axis of evil” for reasons I don’t completely understand. The reason Crisp isn’t commonly referred to as a “vitamin treat” is perhaps more understandable.

Air Pollution Himeji, JPN

February 19, 2010 - 6:16 pm No Comments

It is ironic and sad that even after hosting and signing the Kyoto Protocol (Dec 1997) and the CQ3 in Denmark (Dec 2009) that unregulated outdoor burning of trash continues in Japan. The purpose of this site, by the Himeji Clean Air Society, is to focus attention on Himeji-City in Japan and the district of Senba where we reside. Of the hundreds of outdoor burn sites around HImeji, the Ichiban worst air polluter in our district of Senba is the Senbahontokuji (Shonen) Buddhist Temple. Video and photos dating from Dec 2008 to 2010 documents the public health and environmental hazard of this Temple.
People all over densely populated Japan must daily endure some private individual, business or farmer burning garbage out doors! The practice of outdoor burning needs to stop

Severn Suzuki speaking at UN Earth Summit 1992

February 14, 2010 - 12:27 am 25 Comments

Raised in Vancouver and Toronto, Severn Cullis-Suzuki has been camping and hiking all her life. When she was 9 she started the Environmental Children’s Organization (ECO), a small group of children committed to learning and teaching other kids about environmental issues. They were successful in many projects before 1992, when they raised enough money to go to the UN’s Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Their aim was to remind the decision-makers of who their actions or inactions would ultimately affect. The goal was reached when 12 yr old Severn closed a Plenary Session with a powerful speech that received a standing ovation.

Cruise Tourism – Alaska – USA

January 18, 2010 - 11:10 am 12 Comments

January 2005
Alaska’s sleepy fishing villages are being overwhelmed by hordes of cruise ship tourists. The sheer size of the invasion is creating unease amongst locals.

The Alaskan town of Skagway all but died when the gold rush ended 100 years ago. “Unemployment was over 55%, the railroad had closed down and people were just down on their luck,” recalls resident Buckwheat Donoghue. But today things are very different. The town has a new lease of life and has been revived by tourism. In summer, tourists out number residents here by nine to one. While locals welcome the tourist dollars, there’s growing concern about the environmental pollution they bring. “The ships generate thousands of gallons of waste and tonnes of garbage,” complains environmentalist Gershon Cohen. Others fear the character of their home towns are being destroyed. Now there are calls for a strict limit to be imposed on cruise ships.
