Wind As An Energy Alternative / Educational video. Department of Energy. Produce by the Solar Energy Research Institute. Wind: An Energy Alternative. This program looks at the history and uses of wind power, used for centuries by humans to move boats, pump water and grind grain including discussions on efficiency, problems in the urban environment, experimental systems and windmill use across the United States. Producer: Department of Energy. Creative Commons license: Public Domain.
Surprisingly good short film about wind energy. What makes it valuable is the interviews with Marcellus Jacobs (a builder of wind turbines in the 1930s) and Ted Finch (whose efforts got the concept of net metering legally acceptable in the US). It’s interesting to note that one of the people listed in the credits, Paul Gipe, is still active in the industry. He’s now a leading author on the subject. His website is http://www.wind-works.org

EnviroMission Limited (www.enviromission.com.au) produced this 5 minute video on the pilot plant in Spain. It is an older video (2000) but gives a decent understanding of the solar tower concept.
EnviroMission, Ltd. (US Market: EVOMY, Australian Exchange: EVM) is a renewable energy developer of sustainable “green” energy solutions for the energy market. EnviroMission aims to be one of Australia’s leading producers of clean renewable energy. EnviroMission holds the proprietary rights to Solar Tower technology, a large-scale renewable energy technology based on simple fundamentals of physics — hot air rises. Solar Tower technology has the potential to offer competitive renewable energy with equal reliability to fossil fuel generators.
A single 200MW Solar Tower power station will provide enough electricity to power around 400,000 households. The energy output will represent an annual saving of more than 1,960,000 tonnes of greenhouse CO2 gases from entering the environment when compared to brown coal emissions in Victoria. The greenhouse savings equate to the removal of approximately 500,000 cars from the road. The Australian Solar Tower project consists of six distinct phases, the first two of which (project optimization and pre-feasibility commercialization) have already been completed. The third phase (final feasibility), paving the way for the implementation of the next three phases (final design, construction, and commercial operation).

This news story from Alabama showcases a client and home that have felt the benefits of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). The WAP is a key environmental/energy conservation program that makes homes energy efficient for low-income households.
Since the inception of the program, over 5.6 million homes have been served, saving an average of 30.5 million MBtu of energy and reducing US energy demand by the equivalent of of 18 million barrels of oil a year!

December 2006
Splits are emerging in the Republican party over its environmental policies. While some still insist global warming is a left wing conspiracy, others are defying Washington and going green.
Rosewell, California, will be the largest private estate powered by solar cells. It’s part of Republican Senator Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Green Revolution. Schwarzenegger has dubbed global warming; “one of the most important issues facing our time”. But others, like Senator Jim Inhofe, dismiss rising temperatures as; “the most media-hyped environmental issue of our time.” Some even claim that temperatures in the Artic are sinking. But these voices are becoming increasingly marginalised. The White House may have rejected Kyoto but individual states are rushing to cut greenhouse emissions.

Admiral Frank “Skip” Bowman, President and CEO of the Nuclear Energy Institute, argues that nuclear waste management is a less severe problem than many believe.
—–
Frank ‘Skip’ Bowman discusses “More Nuclear Energy: Why America Needs it Now.”
The volatility of natural gas prices and the potential for restrictions on coal-fueled power plants have combined to generate greater demand for nuclear power. Nuclear energy expert Bowman will speak frankly on the triumphs and challenges involved in securing a future for nuclear power in the United States. – The Commonwealth Club of California
Admiral Frank L. “Skip” Bowman is a native of Chattanooga, Tenn. He was commissioned following graduation in 1966 from Duke University. In 1973 he completed a dual master’s program in nuclear engineering and naval architecture/marine engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was elected to the Society of Sigma Xi. Adm. Bowman has been awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Duke University. Admiral Bowman serves on two visiting committees at MIT (Ocean Engineering and Nuclear Engineering), the Engineering Board of Visitors at Duke University, and the Nuclear Engineering Department Advisory Committee at the University of Tennessee.
Ashore, Adm. Bowman has served on the staff of Commander, Submarine Squadron Fifteen, in Guam; twice in the Bureau of Naval Personnel in the Submarine Policy and Assignment Division; as the SSN 21 Attack Submarine Program Coordinator on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations; on the Chief of Naval Operations’ Strategic Studies Group; and as Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Naval Warfare). In December 1991, he was promoted to flag rank and assigned as Deputy Director of Operations on the Joint Staff (J-3) until June 1992, and then as Director for Political-Military Affairs (J-5) until July 1994. Adm. Bowman served as Chief of Naval Personnel from July 1994 to September 1996.
Admiral Bowman assumed duties as Director, Naval Nuclear Propulsion, on 27 September 1996, and was promoted to his present rank on 1 October 1996. In this position, he was also Deputy Administrator for Naval Reactors in the National Nuclear Security Administration, Department of Energy. Admiral Bowman retired from the Naval Service in November 2005.
Admiral Bowman is currently president and CEO of the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), positions he has held since February 2005. NEI is the policy organization for the country’s commercial nuclear power industry, and its mission includes interaction with Congress and the Executive Branch, as well as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Today, Maurice Strong sits atop the global environmental movement headed by the United Nations and its interlocking NGO’s and tax-exempt foundations.
Strong is considered to be the person behind the globalization of the foundation-funded environmental movement, and was the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment held in 1972, in Stockholm, Sweden.
He co-authored the ‘Earth Charter’ with Mikhail Gorbachev in 1992. It was Gorbachev who stated in 1996 that the “threat of environmental crisis will be the ‘international disaster key’ that will unlock the New World Order.”
Strong was recruited by David Rockefeller at the age of 17 and groomed for the role he serves today. Despite not having a college education, he was a millionaire by his early 20’s and wielded enormous power and influence.
Already in 1972, at the time of this interview, there is talk of doomsday scenarios if people don’t give up their rights and drastically alter the way they live. Also mentioned in the interview is zero growth, put forward by the Club of Rome in the late 60’s/early 70’s, which called for the control of population and economic growth, and was the precursor to what we see happening today with the US economy and infrastructure being gutted and sent overseas.
In this interview clip Strong discusses his proposal of licenses in order for women to give birth, which has been of much talk among the elite for the past several decades. In the 70’s, David Rockefeller extended his praise to communist dictator of China, Mao Zedong, in an article published in the New York Times, for his country’s one-child policy, which will be the model for the Western nations to follow in the future — hence China’s “Most Favored Nation” status granted by the UN.
