The devastating rate of deforestation in British Columbia spurred TZEPORAH BERMAN into action. A plan to pursue law and academics was quickly dropped for environmental action and in 2000 Berman co-founded ForestEthics. This not-for-profit organization aims to promote environmental leadership in industry, governments and local communities. Their campaigns have inspired change in the environmental practices of corporations like Dell, Home Depot, Wal-Mart and Victoria’s Secret. But it doesn’t end there. Berman’s passion and dedication to the environment are boundless and continue to propel the efforts of ForestEthics.

Cutting household water usage involves never over-watering the lawn, trying to plant drought tolerant plants in the yard, taking shorter showers and washing clothes in full loads. Conserve water at home, only using the water absolutely necessary for day-to-day activities, with helpful information from an avid environmentalist in this free video on environmental health.

Follow a group of Master’s of International Environmental Policy students for a field experience in Ecological Restoration at the renowned Point Lobos State Reserve in California. For the class, the students analyzed the natural resource management plan to address invasive plants in the park. The students met with experts to gain a comprehensive understanding of the problem and then proposed a management plan to state park officials as part of their coursework.
