The last public message recorded by Sir Arthur C Clarke
December 2, 2009 - 4:09 pm
This was the final public message recorded by the late Sir Arthur C Clarke, which closed the global launch of the International Year of Planet Earth, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 13 February 2008. In his unique style, Sir Arthur connects the local with global, and traces the influence of space exploration on the global environmental movement. He ends calling for humanity to listen to the planet’s distress call, and respond with knowledge, understanding and imagination.

A hundred years ago …
A hundred years ago, the electric telegraph made possible – indeed, inevitable – the United States of America. The communications satellite will make equally inevitable a United Nations of Earth; let us hope that the transition period will not be equally bloody.
( Arthur C. Clarke )
The N WO may be coming whether you like it or not. The Type I Civilization is being envisaged. You and your children and your children’s children may have to wear the 6-6-6 chip in the Brave New World. Understand.

I still can’t …
I still can’t believe he passed away. He was kind of a father figure to me that I never had in my own life, from my early teens to this day, and always will be!
I remember writing him fan mail in 2001, and he even sent a letter back to me with so kind words. He was truly a great man.
I may be a sentimental fool, but I just can’t help but cry when watching this and listening to his fragile voice.
